As you can tell, these are some quick snaps of this weekend's outfit taken none other than in my front yard. I rarely wear any kind of blue jeans, if I do it usually means that I have not been keeping up with my laundry! I usually opt for dark grey or black skinny's, don't ask me why because I seriously have no clue. However, here you have it! I have officially broken out of my "no blue jeans" rut. Not only are these James Jeans Couture Collection jeans the perfect skinny leg, they are also designed and produced with the utmost attention to detail so that they fit impeccably. When I say "impeccably", I mean they hug the "curves" in all the right places!

This outfit goes to show you that sometimes all you really need is a comfy, cozy knit sweater, a pair of skinny jeans, a pair of very tall platform boots and hey while you are at it add a little faux fur and you got the perfect laid-back yet statement making outfit.

Quick outfit post on what I wore this Saturday. Motel Rocks sent me the amazing black velvet Gina dress a few months back and for some reason or another I had not found the perfect occasion to wear the dress out for, I finally gave up and decided to dress it down by pairing it with black booties and a denim vest. I am totally in love with this black velvet dress, the long sleeve, cream trim and v-cut back are perfect details that make this LBD (little black dress) a standout from all the rest.

I am being very honest when I say that this might be the first solid (all) red dress that I have ever worn! [The closest I have come to wearing a red dress can be seen here] The red dress is such a bold, feminine statement piece. Stepping out wearing my red dress I felt strong, brave, empowered and very feminine. So ladies (and gents too!) make sure you sport your red this month!

Taking the textile science course was such an eye opener, the class made me realize that an essential part to how a piece of clothing looks and fits the body when worn has to do with one very important element and that is the fiber component from which the textiles and fabrics are made from. One of the main and huge differences that exists between textiles is whether a textile is composed from man-made fibers versus natural fibers. Over the years and because of the technological advances in textile production and also in part to the rise and popularity of the "fast fashion" we love so dearly, it seems natural fibers are not as popular nor appreciated as they used to be. I am sure that in many cases and for the majority of "us" (fashion lovers on a budget) the first thing we reach for when shopping for a new garment is the price tag instead of reaching for the very important and often over looked fiber content tag. Yes, the fiber content tag is the tag with the very tiny writing and the numbers, followed by the percent symbol.

With this said, I want to re-introduce you to a fiber that has been the long time favorite fiber of choice of many designers because of it's amazing high quality, versatility and softness....that fiber is none other than Merino Wool. Not only does Merino Wool offer a great design aesthetic, high quality and a luxurious look and feel but it also has another pretty rad quality that is often over looked especially when compared to man-made fibers. Last week I stopped by the Young by Yoyo Yeung Collection Preview event at their beautiful downtown Los Angeles showroom. The Young by Yoyo Yeung team was incredibly sweet, the collection is gorgeous and such a treat to be able to check out in person and as always it's such a pleasure to hang out with the lovely ladies from Bollare and with my blogging buddies! The collection is beautiful and edgy at the same time and extremely wearable. The silhouettes are simple yet eye catching and the details such as the materials, textures and embellishments lend the pieces the perfect balance making every single piece wearable for a range of lifestyles. Out and About [LA]: Quiksilver Women Spring 2012 Launch Party

Last week thanks to Rachael and Bollare I was able to attend the Quiksilver Women's Spring 2012 Launch Party at Eveleigh on Sunset. The event was filled with delish eats, yummy drinks, photo booth fun and beautiful fellow bloggers and friends. We all got to take a peek at the Quiksilver women's line and really check out the design details up close and personal. The Spring line is laid back, effortless with a beach vibe of course and perfect for spring and summer. My favorites were the unexpected prints used throughout the collection and the laid back versatile pieces such as the denim blazer and over sized Navajo print cardigan (check out the images below). I was also happy to meet one of my favorite, favorite bloggers (and probably yours too!) Liz from Late Afternoon, it was very nice to confirm that she is such a sweetie !

This is a very casual and laid back outfit I wore for a weekday. I love figuring out new ways to wear old pieces from my closet, I had previously worn this Swaychic cozy sweater differently with velvet leggings (check it out here). It's so easy and fun to re-vamp that basic slouchy knit sweater and get some extra wears from it by knotting it over a loose dress (even a maxi), or over a a body-con dress or skirt and tadaa... you got an effortless and unexpected detail added to your outfit!

I have been wearing lots of "chunky" platform shoes lately, they are my favorite since they are super tall, bold and "walkable". However, with this outfit I decided to change gears just a bit. For this outfit I threw on my Sole Society Justine hot pink pointed pump with basic liquid leggings and my favorite polka dot tee. I kept the rest of the accessories and jewelry fairly minimal (well at least tried to) in order to let the hot pink pumps and polka dot tee be the standout pieces. For the jewelry I added two of my favorite bracelets and two simple rings and for the neck area I kept it minimal but still with personality thanks to my "ariana" necklace from Mynamenecklace.com. The boy friend is a huge Chicago Bears football fan and had been insisting on getting me to wear a football jersey for quite some time now. Have to admit that sport jerseys are one of the few items I say "no" to and this is why the boy gave up and decided to get me a tee instead. So here you have it, my casual "Sunday Football" inspired outfit and yes I wore it yesterday on a Sunday! I am happy to know that I now have a little fashion formula to "go to" where I can show off my football spirit and still feel like myself without having to wear a huge boxy, stiff and shapeless sports jersey!

The formula is as follows: football tee + shorts or skinny jeans + platform boots + over sized slouchy cardigan + tons of jewelry = a stylish and chic football spectating outfit.

To say goodbye to an amazing 2011, I put together a little round-up of some of my favorite outfits of the year. It was really difficult narrowing the outfits down since I seem to me emotionally attached to every single outfit post I have ever done. A funny and fun thing about blogging is getting to look back in time and see yourself in that past moment, it's something like time travel or a fashion journal.

Have I told you how amazing this pair of vertical striped pants from Motel Rocks is and how much I love them (probably yes)!? I get tons of stares when I these bold skinnys out, as well as a ton of compliments and stylish girls asking me and begging me to tell them where I got them from. On another note, I can't seem to take off these Steve Madden boots nor this waffle knit sweater . They both are super easy to throw on and go with everything, which is a good thing because those are the best types of "closet additions"!

Have I told you that grey is my favorite color, well I am not sure if I can really call it a color so I will say that grey is my favorite shade. Grey goes and matches with just about everything and has a laid-back, effortless and relaxing vibe. This is what I wore for Christmas day, it was the perfect relaxed yet still "fun"(but not so fun when I got stuck in some rose bushes) outfit for a day spending time with my family and friends. I am totally in love with every single piece from this outfit. Comfy sweater, my go-to velvet leggings, platform boots, and my "trusty" cat eye sunglasses. This outfit was a total "no-brainer" because it's composed of easy pieces that are extremely versatile and easy to throw on. Lately as I am on a "budget" more than ever, when shopping and adding pieces to my wardrobe my main concern is whether it's versatile or not and whether I will be able to wear it more than once. Trust me, this is not an easy task since I am usually attracted to anything bold, shiny, bright, funky, printed, and neon!

If you follow me on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram (ari_c) it is no secret that I am beyond obsessed with faux fur (like many of you, I am sure). Unfortunately for me LA's temperatures don't drop low enough to satisfy my faux fur obsession. This means that every chance I get where the temperatures are cold enough to where a leather jacket is not warm enough, that's when I bust out the faux fur REGARDLESS of where I am going (yes this gets me MANY stares).

I am sure every blogger's nightmare is being ready and at the perfect location for an outfit shoot and then realizing that the memory card or battery pack is missing from the camera. Well friends, this is exactly what happened to me with this outfit and explains the indoor photos above and the blurry iPhone pictures below. This time around this weekly (as it's supposed to be) Fashion Round-up post is a little different than the past ones (here, here and here). In past posts I usually highlight and feature items that I am crazy about as I come across them by browsing in stores and online. H&M Dragon Tattoo Collection by Trish Summerville- Showroom Visit + GIVEAWAY!

Last month I might have mentioned and gushed about getting to visit the H&M Los Angeles showroom, well I am happy to share with you all of the details from my visit! Trish Summerville is the costume designer for the new film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo set to release in theatres soon, and has worked on many more notable films. This time she decided to take on a new challenge that did not include any movie sets and together with H&M has released her own clothing and accessories collection for H&M inspired by the main character of The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo film, Lisbeth Salander.

I was more than happy to join Trish along with other fabulous LA and international bloggers for a day of fun, playing dress up with the new Dragon Tattoo collection and styling ourselves for a mini-photoshoot. We got to chat with Trish (who is super adorable and down to earth by the way) about the collection and about her inspiration and her excitement for the launch of the line. What I love about Trish and the collection the most is that she designed each piece thinking of the "tough independent girl" who was going to embrace the line and ultimately wear the pieces. Each piece can stand entirely alone with items existing in any girl's wardrobe and can be dressed up or down while still maintaining that edge and "tough girl" vibe.

Trish was excited to see how each blogger/ "independent tough girl" chose to style the pieces from the line in their own unique and individual interpretation. When choosing my "look" I immediately gravitated towards the burgundy pleather leggings. It is no secret that I am having such a crush on the burgundy shades this season, so please trust that it was only natural that I run to the burgundy pants. I paired the pleather leggings with a denim vest (also from the Dragon Tattoo collection) and an H&M top. I have to admit that at first I was a little worried about the fit of the leggings, but I can now assure you that they fit like a dream thanks to the handy amount of stretch they have been designed with!

Funny story, these outfit photos were taken in font of a random house I spotted as I was driving by. As I drove by this lawn I could not help but notice how "Fall-ish" the fallen leaves looked, so of course I stopped, parked and we conducted our little informal mini-photo shoot in front of some stranger's home. I am pretty sure that if there was anyone at home while this "photo shoot" was going on they were probably asking themselves what was this crazy stranger doing taking photos on their lawn! I just could not pass up such a pretty and "fall-ish" photo opportunity ! Lastly, when I say photo shoot I am pretty much kidding, these photos were taken in less that two minutes.

Out and About [Santa Monica] Style With Benefit's Mango Store Event

Some days ago my friend Becs from the blog Style With Benefits hosted a Mango in store event at the Santa Monica store location. There Neekoh (of Live Love LA), Melanie (of Wrecked Stellar) Tiara (from The Dope Girl), along with Becs and I spent time hanging out, chatting, catching up and ohh-ing and ahh-ing the new Mango Holiday collection. There was lot of red and a lot of dark luxe rhinestone, stud, and sequin embellished pieces along with a lot of leather statement pieces. We all got to play dress up in the fitting room and in case you did not notice by ALL my tweeting and "Instagraming" that night and now by the photos above... I am am completely and utterly in LOVE with the red leather skirt I tried on that night! Soft leather, perfect length and fit and the perfect shade of red. I never thought I would end up lusting over a RED skirt this badly!

When I was younger I always wanted a "name" necklace very, very badly. Actually to be more specific, I think I was ten years old when I discovered I wanted a scripted name necklace of my own. There was something so "cool" about wearing your scripted name around your neck. As the years passed by, I refrained from getting myself the "name" necklace I had previously lusted so much over because at the time (and for some odd reason) I did not like my name. Seriously don't ask me why, I really don't know the exact reason for which I was not a huge fan of my name at that time. Maybe the reason behind the "not-liking" of my name was the fact that when I was younger I struggled to decide whether I wanted to go with the Spanish pronunciation of my name or the English one. I am happy to say that I have grown to LOVE my name and now I really don't care whether others pronounce my name in English or Spanish.... both work just fine and represent me just right. I am a hybrid of my Mexican American culture and the pronunciation/s of my name represent that lovely hybrid.

This is why I was beyond ecstatic and excited to received this "Ariana" necklace from MyNameNecklace.com, it is seriously perfect and came just at the right time since the month of November happens to be my birthday month.
